Sisters and Brothers,
Below is thank you note I received from Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. I am just the conduit; the thanks belong to you. I have to admit that I sometimes love to brag about how hard-core the members of Local 4009 are when it comes to protecting each other against sometimes unreasonable working conditions. But more than that, I love to brag about the giving hearts of our members and retirees. Our members and retirees know from their personal experiences and from their experiences at work in the field that there are families who are struggling to make ends meet and that these families are not always sure where the next meal may come from, let alone a Thanksgiving dinner. I couldn’t be more proud, even thankful, of the many members, retirees, and their families who donated food, money, their time and more to those who need a hand.
In Unity and Happy Thanksgiving,
Tina Culver, President
CWA Local 4009
Dear Tina and Friends in the CWA Local 4009,
Thank you so much for your donation of 593 pounds of assorted food to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. This generous gift will provide more than 492 meals to your hungry neighbors in need! You are helping us close our million pound gap in distributing no- to low-cost food that goes out in the five counties that we serve. Outstanding job!
Without advocates like you in our community Gleaners would not be able to collect over 2.8 million pounds of food from food drives and distribute them to our more than 530 partners each year, including soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, senior homes, schools, and others. Through your support, you are helping to connect hungry people with the food they need when and where they need it.
Thank you for choosing Gleaners and supporting our mission to nourish communities by feeding hungry people. I look forward to working with you again in the future!
